So you’re moving in… now what?
- Come to the 225 Northwestern Ave office with photo ID
- Pick up your move in packet and keys
- Sign up for Resident Services
- Pay off current balance if needed
Alright so move in was a success… next steps:
- Fill out the move in checklist!!
Be as detailed and picky as you can be. Any previous damages that go unmarked come out of your security deposit at the end of the year, so do yourself a favor and fill it out. By the way, you only have 5 days after you pick up your keys to fill the checklist out, so hurry up!
- Buy the basics
If you’re coming from the dorms, your parent’s house, or your sorority or fraternity castle, then you’ve had it easy. The only thing you had to worry about was decorating, and let’s be honest, most of us don’t even do that. Toilet paper, paper towels, soap, pots, pans, cups, plates, utensils, trash bags, plunger, the list goes on and on. Check out this link for a complete list of all apartment essentials.
Set up your resident portal
- Download the Granite app
Access your portal, put in maintenance requests, fill out the move in checklist, ask questions, and most importantly… BANANEFITS!! With the app, you have access to all the discounts offered just by being a resident.
Check your lease to see what utilities you are responsible for and make sure the utilities are put under your name. Not sure how to switch it over? Contact the service provider with questions.
- Bus route
No car? No problem! Off campus or on, the bus routes can be accsessed by any Purdue student. Check out CityBus for a detailed list of all the available bus routes.
Before you move in, the apartment is clean and ready for its new owners! All you have left to do is make it home. Enjoy!
